Awaiting Adoption

Welcome!

Thank you for taking the time to visit with us. We want to express our admiration of you as you bravely face this decision, and we sincerely hope that you have the support of good people as you move through this process. We are a devoted couple who are able and willing to provide a loving home for your baby. Josh is 28 and Mel is 29. We have been married for 7 years, and we are looking for that special child to complete our family. We are excited about the possibly of making this dream come true through adoption. We are very active, family oriented people, who enjoy many outdoor activities, music, and sports. We believe in working hard AND playing hard. Melanie is an avid runner, who loves cooking, the theater, and photography and Josh loves college football, movies, anything that allows him to spend time on the water. We also both love animals, which is no secret to anyone who knows us, as we have 3 dogs and a cat.

Melanie has her Doctorate in Physical Therapy, and works for a home health company, which allows for flexibility in her schedule. Josh is a carpenter/ contractor and owner of a construction company, and very much enjoys the challenge of working with his hands. We live in a small southern town, with both of our families within an hour of our home. We are lucky enough to be surrounded by friends and family, all of who are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the new addition to our family.

Melanie is an outgoing, compassionate person. She cares deeply for her family and friends, and hates to see anyone suffering. She is an avid runner, who loves photography, music, and sports. She loves to cook, and to entertain their friends at their home. She is involved in fundraising for many organizations, and has participated in Habitat for Humanity. She was voted "Most Likely to Succeed" by her senior class, and that has proved true, as she has excelled scholastically and professionally. She is nurturing and understanding, and can't wait to be a mommy!

Josh is energetic, passionate, and generous. He worked hard to provide while Melanie completed her degrees, even working 2-3 jobs. He has continued with that ambition and determination, and as a result has a successful small construction business. He is fiercely loyal to his family and friends. He loves spending time outdoors, and has many hobbies. He enjoys playing golf, fishing, and wakeboarding. He has a great sense of humor and was voted "Class Clown" by his senior class, and continues to live up to that reputation. He is patient, kind, and fun-loving-the kind of dad that any child would be lucky to have.

We have a 2 year old niece, and two nephews, who are 3 and 6. We love to spend time with them, playing, reading, cuddling, and wathcing movies. We have been asked by both parents of our niece and our 2 nephews to serve as godparents for them.

We live in an 1800 square foot home in a quite new subdivision in a small town. Our home has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a large living room, and a cozy kitchen. We also have a large covered back deck where we like to have barbecues and make smores by the fire. We have a large fenced in backyard, which is perfect for playing with our 3 dogs. We live near great school systems, beautiful parks, a large lake, and movies and shopping. We also have 2 large cities within a hour of our home we have access to the cultural experiences of a large city, while enjoying the comfort of a small town.

Family has always been a big part of our lives. We both come from families of 4 children, and both enjoy the bustle of a large family. Melanie has 3 sisters, and Josh has a brother and 2 sisters. We recently moved several hundred miles to be closer to our families, so that when we start our own family, our children will have the experience of being close to their grandparents and aunts and uncles and cousins.

Although we grew up in different church backgrounds, church has always been important to both of us. I was raised in a Pentecostal church, and Josh’s background is Missionary Baptist. We have found that with much time and prayer, we are able to combine our faiths and find a church where we are both very comfortable. Although we currently attend a Baptist church, we jokingly call ourselves “Baptecostals.”

We love to spend time together, and share many hobbies. We both love spending time on our boat, skiing, tubing, or just hanging out, and recently Josh has convinced Melanie to take up golf. She still has a long way to go, but luckily Josh is a patient instructor! We both enjoy music, movies, sports, and spending time with our friends. We also spend a lot of time working in our yard.
